Cornerback Aaron Glenn has signed a one-day contract to retire with his hometown Houston Texans.
Glenn played for five teams over his 15-year NFL career, spending three of them with the Texans.
The former cornerback said that the one-day deal brings closure to his life, which is still all about football to this day.
He said it’s hard for him to sit at home and watch football games because he just gets so excited. (Read More…)

The Houston Texans have brought in free agent veteran cornerback Frank Walker for a try-out.
Walker spent the past couple of seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and had very mixed results.
He is known as a physical corner who often gets beat and tends to use his hands too much in coverage. (Read More…)

The Houston Texans go into the 2010 season wondering what exactly they will do at the running back position.
The team had its share of problems last year at running back, particularly when it came to protecting the ball.
Steve Slaton lost his starting job to Chris Brown, but neither running back proved to be effective.
The Texans drafted Auburn running back Ben Tate this offseason to give them a between-the-tackles guy.
Slaton is coming off of offseason surgery on his spine, which is always a big reason for concern.

For Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, the spotlight isn’t something he wants centered on him.
Many call Schaub boring, but the quarterback doesn’t look at it that way. He just doesn’t like to garner a lot of attention.
Schaub said he tries his best to be boring with the media so he doesn’t throw any bulletin-board material out there for opponents.
He said his main focus is to go out on the field each Sunday and do his best to help his team win.
He feels like all of that other stuff is just a distraction and could put him off of his game.

Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels will miss training camp as he continues to battle back from a torn ACL.
It’s disappointing news for the Texans, as Daniels had established himself as one of the best tight ends in the league.
Head coach Gary Kubiak said that the tight end position will be an important battle in training camp.
The team will likely bring in a bunch of different tight ends to work out to add to the competition.
The good news is that Daniels is still well ahead of schedule in his recovery and making good progress.

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson is not attending workouts to plead his case for a new contract.
Johnson has five years remaining on an eight-year contract worth $60 million.
It’s surprising that he is already demanding a new contract given that he just recently signed a big deal.
The Texans said that it’s difficult to do anything with Johnson because there are so many years left on the current deal.
The team is not concerned about it though, saying they are still willing to speak with him and see what can be done.
Johnson himself will admit that the team has done a nice job compensating him in the past.

Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has been suspended four games by the NFL for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.
He is allowed to participate in offseason activities, training camp practices and preseason games but will not be able to play the first four games of the regular season.
Interestingly enough, rumors of performance enhancing drug use followed Cushing throughout his college career and into the NFL Draft.
Cushing maintains he did not take anything illegal and does not understand why he tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.
He also said in a press conference leading up to the 2009 NFL Draft that he has never taken or tested positive for any type of PED’s in his life.

After losing cornerback Dunta Robinson to free agency, the Houston Texans knew it would be key to find more help in the secondary.
With the No. 20 overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Texans found that help in Alabama cornerback Kareem Jackson.
Many felt that the Texans would end up taking cornerback Kyle Wilson at this spot, but they elected to take Jackson over him.
Jackson was a late riser in the draft as teams took to his physical style at the cornerback position.
Houston’s offense hasn’t been the problem, so finding a way to stop opponents from scoring was the biggest offseason priority.

The Houston Texans 2010 schedule has been released, and it includes a tough stretch in the middle of the season.
The team opens up with Indianapolis at home, which isn’t exactly the kind of test you want in your first game. It does give the Texans an opportunity to get a head start of their biggest challenge in the AFC South.
The Texans get four of their first six games at home, and only a game against the Dallas Cowboys should be a challenge outside of the season opener against Indianapolis.
Houston eventually plays at Indianapolis and then hosts San Diego before traveling to Jacksonville. That’s followed by a road contest at the New York Jets, home against Tennessee, at Philadelphia and then back to Houston to face the Ravens.
That tough stretch still isn’t over, as it finishes with back-to-back road games against Tennessee and Denver before an easy season finale at home against the Jaguars.

The Houston Texans have signed place kicker Neil Rackers to a two-year contract.
The contract is not guaranteed unless Rackers makes the team out of training camp, which won’t be easy.
Rackers is being brought in to compete with current kicker Kris Brown, who was terrible last season.
Up until last year, Brown was one of the top kickers in the NFL and had no worries about his job security.
Last year, he made just 62 percent of his kicks, a number that is totally unacceptable no matter how well he kicked in the past.
